#13 - Aired on Wednesday June 27, 2007
This
week on The Health Show we look at the many faces of volunteerism in Saskatoon
Health Region. You will meet a volunteer who is Living with a Chronic Disease,
and is teaching others how to cope in a program called Living with a Chronic
Disease. You'll learn about a great volunteer program at Saskatoon City
Hospital that provides patients and families a chance to relax and enjoy
a Saturday afternoon matinee together. See how Student Volunteers are making
a difference at St. Paul's Hospital. Meet the Director of Volunteer Services
for Saskatoon Health Region and learn about the many, and varied ways a
person can contribute by becoming a volunteer. Enjoy a good chuckle as you
meet a dedicated group of volunteers who like nothing better than a chance
to clown around! This week you will also find out about the Meals on Wheels
program, and how this program, in its fortieth year, is still going strong.
Appearing in this week's segments are Shelley Lofstrom, Manager of Volunteer
Services, Saskatoon City Hospital; Lorna Callbeck, Manager of Volunteer
Services, St. Paul's Hospital; Joy Adams, Director of Volunteer Services
and Spiritual Care, Saskatoon Health Region; Brenda Johnson, Coordinator
of Volunteers, Idylwyld Centre; and many community members.
