The Health Show set for a fifth Season

The Health Show, a three-time provincial award-winning series produced by Saskatoon Health Region and ShawTV, Channel 10, begins its fifth season on January 11, 2006. Since the show's debut in 2002, The Health Show has provided viewers with information on medical research, healthy lifestyles, health promotions, illness and injury prevention, health services and programs, health news update, active living tips and a call-in segment with a family physician.
"The goal of the show is to heighten public awareness of health services in an effort to improve the health of our community," says Marielle Gauthier, Program Lead for The Health Show, Saskatoon Health Region. "Research to date indicates that viewers have a better understanding of health issues including research, active living and illness prevention because of the program."
"Our 4th year was a landmark season because we aired the 50th episode of the show," says Jim Mattern, Programming Manager and Executive Producer, ShawTV. "This means quite a lot in the television industry as an indication of the program's strong viewership.
The Health Show has been able to bring health information to a wide and diverse audience and continues to be on the leading edge of cable television programming."

The show has grown from highlighting local programs and services to programs being implemented throughout the various health regions in the province. "There are great health care programs being undertaken throughout the province of Saskatchewan and we want our viewers to know about them," says Gauthier.

The show is seen throughout the province on Shaw Cable, Access Cable in Regina, and on SCN - Saskatchewan Communications Network.
Copies of the show are available for public loan from the Idylwyld Public Health Office and the hospital Resource Libraries in Lanigan, Humboldt and Rosthern. Patients and hospital staff can also see the show free of charge at all three Saskatoon Hospitals.
